PostHeaderIcon How to Play a D Major Guitar Chord

The “D” major open chord is played on the four top strings only. The 1st and 2nd fingers are placed on the 2nd fret of the 1st and 3rd strings and the 3rd finger frets the 3rd fret on the 2nd string.

The chord spelling for D consists of the following three notes:

D, F# and A

 

TIPS:

Slide the first and second fingers closer to the second fret Slide the third finger closer to the second fret Try as much as possible not to strum the 5th and 6th strings in this chord.
